2. Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) uses a vibrating cannula to remove fat from the body. It is more effective than SAL, especially in large-volume liposuction procedures, as it removes fat with minimal tissue injury and fatigue for the surgeon. As a result, recovery time is shorter.

3. VASER (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance) Liposuction, also known as Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (UAL), involves a low-frequency ultrasound emitted from the tip of a cannula. The ultrasound breaks down and emulsifies fat,  which is then removed using a power-assisted liposuction (PAL) cannula. It is suggested that the device can remove fat with minimal bruise, swelling and blood loss and fast recovery compared to other liposuction devices however, the evidence in the literature to support this, is so far limited. In addition, VASER liposuction can also tighten the skin thus, creating a more athletic look. It is particularly effective in areas where the fat is dense, such as the back and the flanks. VASER is well-suited for all areas of the body especially those resistant to diet and exercise. VASER allows for a much more precise targeting of fat pockets compared to traditional liposuction techniques. 

4. Laser-Assisted Liposuction (also known as SMART Liposuction) uses Laser technology at the tip of the cannula. The emitted laser beam, breaks down fat cells, coagulates the blood vessels and tightens the skin. This device is associated with minimal swelling, bruise and a faster recovery. It can be performed under local anaesthesia, intravenous sedation (also known as ‘twilight’ anaesthesia) or general anaesthesia. Based on the current literature, SMART liposuction does not appear to be superior or safer compared to other liposuction techniques.

High-definition Liposuction (also known as ‘6-pack tummy’, ‘8-pack tummy’, high-definition abs)  is a specialised liposuction technique used to enhance the musculature of the torso and other parts of the body and create a ‘shredded’ and athletic look. It involves removing fat from certain body areas (3D liposuction) and/or adding the removed fat back to enhance certain muscle groups in the body (4D liposuction). 

By removing only the fat, while leaving all other tissues such as blood vessels and connecting tissues intact, your skin retains its smooth and even appearance after the surgery. The whole process is completed with small incisions that leave minimal, hidden scars after the surgery. 

High-definition liposuction can combine VASER with PAL or PAL with other skin-tightening devices such as Renuvion or BodyTite. Sometimes, it is possible to combine three devices such as VASER, PAL and Renuvion (or BodyTite) for a superior skin tightening result.

The whole procedure can take roughly 3 to 4 hours depending on the size and the number of the areas being treated. 

It is usually carried out with intravenous sedation or general anaesthesia.
